The Licensing Executives Society Russia (LES Russia), with the support of the Russian State University of Justice and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), held the online seminar “Protection of Intellectual Property Rights in the Context of the Digital Transformation of the Economy.”
The speakers included:
Natalia Karpova, Doctor of Economics, Professor at the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration (RANEPA) and Vice President of LES Russia;
Ksenia Gigax, AI and Data Policy Officer at the World Intellectual Property Organization;
M. M. Karelina, Head of Research on Theoretical and Practical Issues of Judicial Protection of Intellectual Property at the Centre for Justice Research of the Russian State University of Justice and Honoured Lawyer of the Russian Federation;
E. A. Morgunova, Ph.D. in Law, Deputy Head of the Department of Civil Law at Kutafin Moscow State Law University;
N. V. Buzova, Ph.D. in Law, Leading Researcher at the Russian State University of Justice;

The topics discussed included the digital economy and intellectual property, particularly the challenges of managing IP in the digital economy; WIPO’s approaches to the digitalization of society; the specific aspects of adjudicating cases involving intellectual property and digital technologies in different jurisdictions; the concept and transferability of digital rights; the protection of copyright and related rights in the digital environment; the protection of exclusive rights in computer software; and many other issues.
The seminar generated considerable interest and brought together more than 100 participants.
