The Licensing Executives Society Russia (LES Russia), the Russian Franchise Association (RFA), the Business Russia Committee on Franchising and Gorodissky & Partners held a round-table discussion entitled “Exporting Franchises to the EAEU and the Middle East.”
The event was opened by LES Russia Board members Sergey Medvedev, Ph.D. in Law, LL.M., Russian Patent Attorney and Partner at Gorodissky & Partners, and Yuri Mikhaylichenko, Director of the Russian Franchise Association (RFA).
The speakers included:
Yuri Mikhaylichenko delivered a presentation entitled “Channels and Mechanisms for Promoting Franchises Abroad.” He outlined the specific aspects of franchise promotion in Russia and provided recommendations on how to develop an effective strategy for different promotional channels.
Yuri Mikhaylichenko introduced Diana Kurbanova, Vice President of the Uzbekistan Franchise Association, who spoke about the Association’s work and its specific areas of activity.
Sergey Medvedev presented “Legal Aspects of Selling a Franchise in the UAE:: Business and Intellectual Property Issues.” He discussed the key features of franchise relationships, the essential transaction documents and the main distinctions involved in registering franchise agreements in the UAE.
Olga Leontieva, Chair of the Belfranchising Association of Franchisors and Franchisees, delivered a presentation entitled “Exporting Franchises: The Belarusian Experience.” She outlined the structure of the Belarusian franchise market and its development in recent years.
Elena Korostyleva, Partner at Sendika Group, presented “Promoting the Tonus Club Fitness Franchise in International Markets.” She shared successful examples of selling franchises for the innovative women’s fitness club chain in various countries.
Denis Konkov, Co-Founder and Creator of the international Nastoyashchaya Pekarnya bakery chain, delivered a presentation entitled “Promoting a Food-Service Franchise in International Markets.” He emphasised the importance of geomarketing—particularly a detailed assessment of customer traffic at a prospective location before launch—as a key factor in business success.
The event generated considerable interest and concluded with a lively discussion. It attracted more than 50 participants.
