Meeting of Delegates of the Licensing Executives Society International
International Delegates of the Russian Licensing Society (LES Russia), Svetlana Makeeva and Sergey Dorofeev, took part in the Meeting of Delegates of the Licensing Executives Society International (LESI), held in Paris, France, on 26–28 March 2004.

International Delegates of the Russian Licensing Society (LES Russia), Svetlana Makeeva and Sergey Dorofeev, took part in the Meeting of Delegates of the Licensing Executives Society International (LESI), held in Paris, France, on 26–28 March 2004. As part of the meeting, a Round Table was held at which Valery Medvedev, Vice President of LES Russia, gave a presentation.
On 26 March 2004, a meeting of European Presidents was held.
The meeting was also attended by Mr Nabil Salameh, President of the Licensing Society of Arab Countries, and Mr Alan Lewis, President of the Licensing Society of South Africa.
The following issues were discussed at the meeting:
— Readiness for the International Conference of the Licensing Executives Society (29–31 March 2004, Paris) — the Conference was fully prepared. More than 500 participants and 200 accompanying persons were expected (2 additional training courses (add-on), 2 plenary sessions, 4 mini-plenary sessions, 1 Round Table and 17 workshops).
— The issue of International Delegates being unable to attend the training courses because they were held simultaneously with the Meeting of International Delegates, as well as the introduction of mandatory rotation of the heads of national societies into the Charter of the Licensing Executives Society International. The issue had not yet been resolved.
— Readiness for the 2005 International Conference of the Licensing Executives Society in Munich (11–15 June). Preparations for the Conference were in their final stage.
— Sponsorship and assistance to newly admitted and smaller societies. A seminar on training lecturers to teach using the “Basic Licensing Course” was to be held in Warsaw in June 2004. It was sponsored by the Licensing Society of Scandinavia and conducted by the Licensing Society of the USA and Canada and the Licensing Society of Great Britain and Ireland. On 28 March, a Round Table devoted to these issues was held during the Meeting of International Delegates.
— The issue of holding a European Day in Brussels (a one-day seminar in October 2004).
— The issue of signing a licence agreement for the right to use the LESI trademark. As of that date, none of the Societies had signed the agreement. The issue was to be discussed further.
At the Meeting of International Delegates itself, held on 27 and 28 March 2004, internal matters of the Society, coordination of national Societies, amendments to the Charter, the Society’s development programme, reports of national Societies, reports of the governing bodies of the Licensing Executives Society International, reports of the Licensing Society Committees, and further development of the Licensing Executives Society International website, among other matters, were discussed. The issue of mandatory attendance at each Meeting of International Delegates by the presidents of national societies or their authorised representatives was also discussed. No decision was taken.
On 28 March, a Round Table on sponsorship and assistance to newly admitted and smaller societies was held during the Meeting of International Delegates. The Round Table was chaired by Mr Adam Liberman (Australia), and presentations were given by Mr Heinz Goddar (Germany), Mr Günter Isenbruck (Germany), and Mr Valery Medvedev (Russia).
On 28 March, Valery Medvedev and Sergey Dorofeev held talks with Mr Ted Cross (Canada), Chairman of an LESI Committee, concerning cooperation between the Committee and LES Russia in preparing and holding an LES Russia seminar in November of that year on the transfer of university technologies to Russian industry.
More than 700 participants took part in the Conference.
