On 2 December 2011, the International Seminar “Commercial Transactions Involving Intellectual Property” was held in Moscow.
The seminar covered a wide range of issues related to the use of intellectual property (IP), including technology transfer, forms of licensing, franchising and other matters.
The seminar speakers included:
M. Graba, Inventa (Czech Republic) — “Specific Features of Technology Transfer from the EU to Russia in the Pharmaceutical Industry”;
O. Hiziroglu, Sabanci University (Turkey) — “Using Cooperation Mechanisms between Turkey and Russia as a Tool for Accelerated Economic Growth”;
D.B. Shulgin, Doctor of Economics, IP Centre of Ural Federal University (UrFU, Russia) — “Licensing of University Technologies: Issues and Experience Based on the Example of UrFU”;
L.P. Fatkina, PhD in Economics, Professor, Russian State Academy of Intellectual Property (Russia) — “Changes in Accounting and Taxation of Transactions Involving Intellectual Property”;
Yu.N. Mikhailichenko, Russian Franchise Association (Russia) — “Franchising as an Effective Form of IP Commercialisation: Practical Aspects of Franchising Development and Changes in Russian Legislation”;
S.V. Medvedev, LLM, Gorodissky & Partners (Russia) — “Pledge Transactions Involving Intellectual Property”.
A round table was held at the conclusion of the seminar.
More than 30 specialists from Russia, Ukraine, Belarus and Kazakhstan took part in the seminar.
Following the seminar, the Annual Reporting and Election Meeting of the members of the Russian Licensing Society (LES Russia) was held.
