On 6 December 2013, a seminar of the Russian Licensing Society (LES Russia), “Pledge of Intellectual Property Rights”, was held in the conference hall of the law firm Gorodissky & Partners.
S.V. Medvedev, PhD in Law, LLM, Senior Lawyer, Russian Patent Attorney, Gorodissky & Partners, and E.M. Tilling, Special Counsel, Baker Botts LLP, gave presentations entitled “Specific Features of Concluding Pledge Transactions Involving Intellectual Property” and “Foreclosure on Pledged Intellectual Property”.
More than 30 representatives of industrial companies and banks, as well as patent attorneys, lawyers, licensing and technology transfer specialists, took part in the Seminar.
During the lively discussion that followed, the participants discussed the legal and practical aspects of pledge transactions, the specific features of valuing pledged rights, as well as mechanisms for foreclosure on pledged intellectual property rights based on existing Russian practice. The speakers, as well as N.N. Karpova, Professor, Academy of National Economy under the Government of the Russian Federation, Vice President of LES Russia; N.V.
