European Conference “Intellectual Property — the Currency of Future”

Valery Medvedev, Vice President of LES Russia, and Sergey Dorofeev, Secretary of LES Russia, took part in the European Conference “Intellectual Property — the Currency of Future”, held in Prague on 8–11 September 2002 and organised by LES Czech Republic.
The Conference included one seminar, 4 plenary sessions and 4 section meetings, each covering 5 areas.
Overall, the Conference was successful. However, the following presentations were particularly well received: “Integration of the Czech Economy into Global Structures” by Evžen Kočenda, Institute of Economics of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic; “Transformation of SkodaAuto into a Manufacturer of Modern European-Class Cars” by Martin Ridky, Assistant to the Chairman of the Board of Directors of SkodaAuto, Czech Republic; and “David and Goliath: The Story of the Budweiser Trademarks” by Helena Leitnarova, Legal Department, responsible for industrial property matters, Budejovicky Budvar National Corporation, Czech Republic.
Valery Medvedev also spoke at the Conference as one of the speakers in the section “Changes and Challenges in Licensing in Eastern Europe”, and his presentation also generated particular interest among the participants.
We would like to congratulate our Czech colleagues on the successful organisation of the Conference. The trip to Prague and the Conference were undoubtedly memorable, not only because of the plenary sessions and seminars, but also because of the opportunity to visit the beautiful city of Prague and its magnificent sights.
